What is sponsored content detection?

Sponsored content detection surfaces an Instagram account's ad and partnership history. Advertising regulations require content shared in exchange for payment or product to be clearly tagged. Those tags (#ad, #sponsored, #partner and local equivalents) are a strong trail for reading an account's commercial history. For brands and agencies considering an influencer, seeing how "ad-heavy" an account is forms an important part of the collaboration decision.

How do you see an account's sponsored posts?

Enter the account's username and press "Scan Sponsored Content". The tool fetches the last 30 days of posts and looks for sponsorship signals:

The result shows total posts, sponsored post count and sponsorship ratio; each sponsored post is listed with the tag it was caught by.

What does the sponsorship ratio tell you?

The ratio shows how much of the last 30 days' posts were ads. A very high ratio suggests the audience is constantly exposed to ads and may experience "ad fatigue", which can lower conversion on a new collaboration. A low but steady ratio usually points to an account that balances content and ads well and protects audience trust. Read this metric alongside engagement rate and reach, not on its own.

Important limitation

This tool only shows explicitly tagged sponsorships. It can't detect untagged, hidden ads because those are technically indistinguishable from organic posts. Read the result as "at least this many declared ads", not a definitive total.

Are hidden sponsorships detected?

Only declared tags; but tags hidden with look-alike characters are normalized and caught.

Why does the ratio matter?
